OFSTED 2018
At Shrubland Street we strive for every child to achieve their full potential. All pupils are valued and it is our aim to develop every child intellectually, emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially.
The staff at Shrubland Street recognise that all children are entitled to high quality teaching and a broad and balanced curriculum that meets their needs, in order to prepare them for the next stage in their education. Class teachers are skilled in providing lessons and activities that ensure good progress for pupils regardless of their ability. However, for some children there are occasions when further additional support may be needed to help them reach their full potential. This is where support from the SENDCo or SEND specialists may be provided.
The Children and Families Act 2014 ensures that services can consistently support the best outcomes for these children and young people. The act extends availability of SEND support from birth to 25, giving young people and their families greater control and choice in decision making to ensure their needs are properly met. Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with SEND aged 0-25. This is the ‘Local Offer’.
