Tree Planting at Leasowe Farm
Year 5 went to Leasowe Farm to plant trees for the 'Children's Forest'. In total, they planted 53 trees. These included: wild cherry, holly, silver birch, oak, field maple and Scottish pine. We did this in pairs and with some help from some of the teachers.
The children all arrived in school, dressed appropriately, ready for a day spent outside in the British weather. Hats, raincoats and wellies were the order of the day and they were all put to good use!
As well as planting trees they played games, learned about lighting fires using flint and steel and wrote some poetry about trees.
So far there are over 1000 trees planted for the 'Children's Forest' by local school children.
A big thank you to www.arccic.co.uk for giving the children the opportunity to take part and we hope we can come and visit the farm again in the near future.
