British Values

At Shrubland Street we ensure our diverse community experiences the importance of both our school values and British values throughout the curriculum and daily life. As such;

We take very seriously our responsibility to prepare children for life in modern Britain. We ensure that the fundamental British Values are introduced, discussed and lived out through our Values-based philosophy that infuses the ethos and work of the school.  These Values are:

  • Mutual Respect and the Tolerance of those with different faiths and Beliefs.
  • Democracy.
  • Rule of Law.
  • Individual Liberty.

All curriculum areas provide a vehicle for furthering understanding of these concepts and lessons provide excellent opportunities to deepen and develop understanding. Children embrace these concepts with enthusiasm and demonstrate a good understanding of their application to their own lives.

Behaviour and School Values

At Shrubland Street we ensure all children have the chance to shine within an atmosphere and environment that promotes positive values. Our behaviour expectations are supported by programmes of study that promote our vision of 'Everybody is different enjoying learning together'. We have a clear set of guidelines and a regularly reviewed behaviour policy that supports consistent positive learning and outstanding behaviour across the school.

Our School Values are as follows:

  • To work together with tolerance and understanding.
  • To show respect and have a positive regard for all.
  • To be actively caring.
  • To be responsible, resilient learners.
